I still remember when Intel tried to 'control' the press when a bug was discovered in the early Pentiums threatening to withdraw ads if journalists would cover the story (and what fun we all had to ridicule them for being so blind and stupid at the time).

And here comes Microsoft. They have sent all publications who want to have Office Professional Plus 2007 Beta 2 as a cover CD a contract to be signed by them. This means that every publication carrying this version of Office 2007 on their cover CD have to send the planned articles to MS for approval. Not onl that they want to make sure you get the product right, they specifically state that any negative writing about MS and their products should be avoided by this measure.

They even give you guidelines on what they would like to see written!

The publishers are also told nbot to have any open source products on the same CD - specifically not Open Office.

I can only hope this willcause a major outcry in the media industry. ComputerBILD, Germany's largest IT (consumer) magazine, has already decided not to sign the contract - and does not plan to publish the Office version on their CDs.

And I would have thought no company would dare confront the media this way again!

Винчестер seagate ST3320620A IDE 320гб куплен год назад,

мать Epox EP-8RDA3, Чипсет nVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400.

Помимо него стоят три винчестера: два по 500гб (SATA-2, работают через PCI контроллер) и один 80гб с операционкой, все три Western Digital .

В один прекрасный день с него пропал раздел. Восстановил через Paragon Partition Manager. Через неделю раздел пропал вновь и восстановиться не захотел. Диск начал пропадать при загрузке BIOS'а. Выяснилось что у шлейфа к которому подключён винчестер перетёрлись два крайних проводка с одной стороны. Инфу всё же восстановил через EasyRecovery. После восстановления стал заливать всё обратно. Скорость передачи данных упала в 10 раз.

Подключил трабловский винчестер к другоиу компу. Мать Gigabyte GA-8I915PL-G, Чипсет Intel Grantsdale i915PL.

В процессе обнаружил посторонние шумы внутри диска, означающие что что-то там не так. Никаких варварских операций над ним за всю его жизнь не проводил. Стоял стационарно.

Подгрузил викторию(Victoria 4.46b for win). Тест на бэды бэдов не обнаружил, показал скорость ~65000kb/s. Нагрелся ацки. На первом компе не греется, но и скорость ~6656kb/s.

Вот и спрашивается что с ним делать

Варианты:

1) Выкинуть в окно

2) Пополнить коллекцию мёртвых винтов

3) Забить информацией, освободив тем самым общее свободное место, отключить и надеется что она ни куда не денется.

В перспективе запланировать покупку нового жестака

Но загадка остаётся загадкой. Неужели два оторванных проводка на шлейфе могут вызвать такие неполадки. И при чём неполадки скорее технического характера. А ведь для обмена данных между винчестером и матью достаточно всего 4 контакта. И ещё неужели винчестер или мать может регулировать скорость вращения дисков в критических ситуациях

Показательно то что восьмидесятка с операционкой находившаяся на другом конце того же шлейфа (Seagate был по середине) работает идеално.
